Today’s Lesson In Progressive Politics: John Holdren

September 17, 2010

Remember John Holdren? He’s Obama’s “Science Czar,” who has advocated forced sterilization, forced abortions, eugenics and other tricks up the Progressive sleeve. I wrote about him here, but the definitive take down is all Zombie’s.

Now that the phrase “global warming” has been ridiculed to the point where people snicker whenever Al Gore’s face pops up on TV, and “climate change” is considered to be too namby-pamby, the Progressives need to find a new way to initiate their statist agenda. Voila! Courtesy of John Holdren, we now have “global climate disruption.”

It’s really a quite elegant solution. Since the globe isn’t actually warming and the research into global warming has been proven to be, let’s just say tainted, the Progressive solution is to rebrand the issue. Global warming didn’t work because the globe isn’t warming any more than it might naturally warm. Climate change doesn’t work because climates change naturally and there’s nothing scary about that.

But Global Climate Disruption? Wow. That sounds scary. Nobody likes disruptions. Disruptions are bad things. The beauty of it is that it’s a catch-all. Heatwave? Disruption. Blizzard? Disruption. Volcano? Disruption. Hurricane? Disruption. Plague of frogs? Disruption.

The lesson for today is that global warming was never a real fear. It has always been a means to an end. A succession of warmer than normal years allowed the Progressives to create a boogeyman in the closet with which to scare people into a conformity of thought and behavior. That thought and behavior would be dictated by the Progressives, naturally. Now that the closet door has been opened and the boogeyman has been revealed to be nothing more than a coat on a hanger, Holdren and his ilk are trying to tell us that the monster is now under the bed, and it’s hungrier than ever. The only way to placate the monster is to do exactly what the Progressives tell you to do. Do not ask questions. Do not look back. Just follow the leaders. The Socialist Utopia awaits.

The Roundup: Doug Powers is on it at Michelle Malkin’s site, and he makes this excellent point:

An administration that goes out of its way to make terrorism sound less dangerous than it really is (i.e. “man-caused disaster”) makes the push to sell “global warming” as more dangerous than it really is.

Obama’s Latest Radical

February 8, 2010

So now President Obama has named Harry Knox to be the man who leads the Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Sometimes I wonder whether the Obama administration is just incredibly bad at vetting their appointees, or whether Obama really holds mainstream American beliefs in such contempt.

The new leader of the Faith-Based group is a man who has insulted and belittled the Catholic Church (the single largest Faith Group in the world) and Pope Benedict because the Pope believes that abstinence will do more for preventing AIDS in Africa than handing out condoms. Rather than take an adversarial position and respectfully disagree with the Pontiff, Knox claims that Pope Benedict is “hurting people in the name of Jesus.” He also accused the Pope of spreading “blatant falsehoods” and forcing African Catholics to choose between their health and their faith. Unsurprisingly, Knox also works for the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual activist group.

Of course, the Pope is absolutely correct. Abstinence will prevent the spread of AIDS much more effectively than condoms (as common sense indicates), and Knox should probably be made aware that no government or organization in the world has done more to comfort and help those afflicted with AIDS than the Catholic Church. But then, that might get in the way of Knox’s reflexive anti-Catholic bigotry.

Even when confronted with the claims from Edward Green, Harvard’s Senior Research Scientist for AIDS Prevention, that condom use doesn’t work to prevent AIDS and that the Pope’s message has done far more to help in these efforts than all of the condoms in Africa, Knox simply dismissed the claims with: “He is simply incorrect in his assertion. All the other evidence of science shows otherwise.” This from a man who would almost certainly claim that the Catholic Church is too dogmatic in its beliefs.

Knox is just the latest in a long line of people appointed by Obama who hold positions that are inimical to basic American values. From the radical Communist Van Jones to the eugenics-advocating John Holdren to the radical homosexual activist Kevin Jennings to the Mao-quoting Anita Dunn to the Hugo Chavez-supporting Mark Lloyd to the anti-Catholic Harry Knox, Obama has amassed quite a backlog of radicals in his stable of advisors. Add in his mentors like the racist anti-American Jeremiah Wright, the anti-American terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, and the Marxist professors, feminists, and “punk rock performance poets” that he gravitated towards as his peer group in college, and the answer to the question about whether or not Obama is incompetent at vetting becomes clear. He is most definitely not incompetent about vetting those he appoints.

He appoints those who share his radical values.

Obama’s Eugenicist Science Czar

July 15, 2009

This isn’t getting a lot of play in the media, mainly because it would require actual reporting and background investigations on the part of journalists, but the word is out now that John Holdren, the “Science Czar” appointed by President Obama, co-authored a book in the 1970s with population scare-mongers Paul and Anne Erlich that advocated forced sterilizations and forced abortions.

Michelle Malkin has a new syndicated column up, and Zombie is all over it like white on rice.

While this is certainly as good a reason as any for outrage, I’m not entirely sure why anybody would be surprised by this. One of the hallmarks of the Progressive movement of which Obama is a proud descendent is an absolute contempt for actual living, breathing people hidden under a cloak of a love of “humanity.” The Progressives always loved Mankind and hated people, and this was clearly evident in their advocacy of forced sterilizations, forced abortions, and eugenics in order to strengthen the overall human race.

If that sounds like the Nazis, it should. Fascism, Naziism, and Progressivism were cut from the same cloth and shared many of the same ideological tenets.

What reporter will ask Obama this simple question: “The man you have appointed as ‘Science Czar,’ John Holdren, is the co-author of a book that finds a Constitutional rationale for forced abortions and forced sterilizations, and has advocated, but not disavowed, those policies. Do you think it is appropriate to appoint a man who holds these views to be in charge of science policy for the United States?”

It’s a simple question, but not an easy one. Which is, of course, why no one in the mainstream media will ask it.
