At Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil’s town hall, he was asked a very simple question by a small boy. “My grandfather is a retired war veteran. What are you going to do to make sure he gets health care?”
Aside from the fact that it’s a pretty naive question (he’s only a kid, after all), Kratovil’s answer was stunning. Rather than explain that veterans have free health care provided through the Veteran’s Administration, he started telling the kid that a lot of soldiers are “kind of sick” (as he gestures to his head nearly approximating the old hand signal for “crazy”) and that they run the risk of suicide.
I’m sure the kid will sleep better tonight knowing that Grampa is a suicidal nut. Thanks Rep. Kratovil!
H/T: Red State.
“Hey kid, Grandpa will be kind of nuts after seeing a bunch of dead people and killing some of them, which may lead him to believe that the constitutional rights of all citizens that he fought for might actually mean something.” Pause for affect… ” He might even start thinking like crazy conservatives…” Point to the kid to re-assure him about your sincerity. “The Government knows what’s best for Grandpa and when he should die, don’t you worry about that.”
